Full excavation of a site for repair work is becoming rarer, although it might still be required in some situations.
Trenchless pipe repairs are now possible due to advances in technology and pneumatic equipment. This excavation-free approach requires zero digging for works such as replacing sections of a water pipe.

WATER PIPE MOLING
Using a pneumatic machine known as a ‘mole’, we can tunnel underground to repair water pipes. Going from hole to hole, this process is called ‘moling’, and it enables us to create a trench so we can access damaged sections. When compared to traditional open-cut methods, moling is far less disruptive and more cost-effective.
When we are carrying out repairs, moling allows us to feed a new pipe through the hole. This is connected at each end to complete the pipe system. Through water pipe moling, we can also insert liners impregnated with resin, which is then inflated. The resin binds to the surface inside, resulting in a new section within the old water pipe.
